I was just wondering about the merits of having an iphone versus a PDA for forex trading purposes. I use MT4, so the mobile version is only available for windows mobile devices, so a PDA seems like the logical choice. But it is a tough decision, especially since i had the chance to play around with an iphone a while back. Damn that is one sexy device. I did used to own an ASUS p505 and before that a HP PDA, but the asus was such a bad phone, bad build quality, i dropped it for a bog standard nokia.
I just wish MS would get with the program and dump their crappy mobile platform and start to get more applish.
For the iphone;
MP3 playback is great
Picture quality and camera are great
Great phone
Attractive design
GMAIL support looks fantastic
8gb built in storage
Web browsing is great
I cant code apps for it
Against the iphone;
CARRIER SIM LOCKING. this is a MEGA NEGATIVE, if you are outside the US.
Battery problems apparently, can barely get through a single day with it
No MT4 support
For the PDA
MT4 support
Can code your own apps for it (i like to program and to know i can create something if i dont have it)
Against those PDAS
Usually the camera is bad, low res.
MP3 playback tough to manage on the go
Tapping out sms’s with a stylus sucks
Low RAM built in and with SD card support, usually 4gb max
Vid playback ok
Better battery performance than iphone
If anyone knows of a PDA that can compete with the iphone, please DO tell me!
I am veering towards the iphone currently, thinking i will use the 3rd party remote desktop application to connect to a remote server where i can manage mt4 accounts. Its just no nice. As long as you dont update your firmware and brick it….
